ADA implementation of a system controller application

The Ada Distributed Systems Evaluation Testbed (ADSET) is used to evaluate the technology approaches designed to enhance software supportability. The ADSET consists of a three-bay chassis. Each chassis contains between four and five homogeneous single-board computers (SBCs) in a minimal configuration, i.e., no resident operating system. These system-level functions are provided by a separate system controller card. The Ada language issue of relevance to this project is compiler support for low-level programming. The chassis considered contains five Motorola 68020 SBCs and a FORCE system controller card. The author discusses the implementation of these functions using the Ada language as well as the feasibility of reusing the code in other VME chassis that contain other SBCs.<>
