Single-microstructure in ferroelectric ceramics of PbTiO/sub 3/

A (TiO(OH)/sub 2/+Pb(OH)/sub 2/) xerogel has been prepared from a sol-gel process by an inorganic route. The synthesis of this gel at 900 degrees C/1 h provides a PbTiO/sub 3/ ceramic precursor with a high crystalline anisotropy (c/a approximately=1.063). Sintering at 1100 degrees C leads to ceramic materials with a bulk density of 90% and a microstructure of twinned single crystals with associate porosity. These PbTiO/sub 3/ ceramics have a Curie point of 434.5 degrees C and d/sub 33/ values of 50 pC-N after poling with electric fields of 100 kV-cm/sup -1/.<
