Theory and experiment of degenerate six-wave mixing in both isotropic and anisotropic saturable absorbers

Theoretical and experimental characterization of degenerate six-wave mixing (DSWM) in bulk media composed of isotropic or anisotropic saturable absorbers is presented. The ratio of the chi /sup (5)/ tensor components has been calculated and measured for both types of media. The authors have also demonstrated that, using DSWM, two-photon absorption coefficients can be evaluated when one-photon absorption is important.<
