IT-based innovation: managing a disorderly process

Managers have become aware of both the difficulties of achieving sustainable competitive advantages from information systems, and the need to make continuous improvements in their products and management processes. The paper presents a four-step process for continuous, incremental IS innovations. Case examples illustrate several strategic IS applications, their genesis, and appropriate management techniques for eliciting and selecting strategic IT applications.<
