Research and simulation on dynamic performance of adaptive ADC

This paper introduces a novel method, which can provide impetus for ADC performance improvements. By digitizing a residual signal, instead of the original received wideband signal, we show that the SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) to the output signal of ADC can be significantly increased. Such residual signal is accomplished by predicting the received signal and subsequently subtracted from the overall received signals; prediction signal is obtained from adaptive algorithms. Simulation with MATLAB is made to analyze the SNR and SFDR (spurious free dynamic range) in the situations such as sampling rate, the number of ADC bits and power of additive Gaussian white noise (AGWN). The complexity, the realization and the cost of the circuit should be considered comprehensively, and essential items about the adaptive ADC designing are put forward in the end.
