Laser-assisted controlled micro-injection into living cells

A titanium-sapphire laser emitting 100 fs short laser pulses at 800 nm wavelength is employed to inject an impermeable dye into single living cells. The cell morphology remains intact after this process. A new method to analyze dye uptake and evaluate membrane integrity is suggested.
