Optical generation and detection of THz polariton via quasi-phase-matched cascade nonlinear processes

First-order quasi-phase-matched, THz-wave generation and detection were achieved by using coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering of periodically poled LiNbO/sub 3/ crystals. Wide-frequency tuning (1.8-5.6 THz) was obtained with corresponding domain periods of 75-10 /spl mu/m.
