MIMO antenna array design considerations for indoor applications

A theoretical analysis of the capacity of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system is presented for several antenna array configurations and scattering-environment models. The array elements are dipole radiators and the mutual coupling between these canonical radiators is included in the model. Using the parameters for the scattering environments from the IEEE 802.11n Task Group channel model, the important array configuration attributes for an indoor MIMO system are explored. The analysis approach is applicable to any radiating element.
