Third order nonlinear optical properties of hybrid mono crystals with n-conjugated systems

In this work present an experimental study of third-order optical properties using the degenerate four wave mixing ( DFWM ) method, we have measured and calculate the third-order susceptibility X/sup <3>/ at 532 nm of organic-inorganic hybrid compounds [ a) tryptophan nitrate (C/sub 11/H/sub 13/N/sub 3/O/sub 5/), b) adeninium dinitrate (C/sub 5/H/sub 6/N/sub 7/O/sub 6/), c) pyridinium nitrate (C/sub 5/H/sub 6/N/sub 2/O/sub 3/), d) d-phenylglycinium nitrate (C/sub 8/H/sub 10/N/sub 2/O/sub 5/), e) m-carboxyphenyl ammonium dihydrogenomonophosphate (C/sub 7/H/sub 10/O/sub 6/NP), f) cytosinium nitrate (C/sub 4/H/sub 6/O/sub 4/N/sub 4/), and g) m-carboxyphenyl ammonium dihydrogenomonophosphite (C/sub 7/H/sub 10/O/sub 5/NP)] witch have been prepared and characterized by spectroscopic analysis and crystallographic method. We have showed that there is a good agreement between the used theoretical model and the experimental results. We found that the studied compounds exhibit large second order hyperpolarisability (/spl Upsi/) values larger than CS/sub 2/ which is a reference material for DFWM.
