HAPS systems performance using a Ka-band channel model based on a time series generator

Many applications in the Ka and upper bands have been analyzed around the world. However, when a link is implemented at frequencies above 10 GHz, the attenuation due to rain and other weather effects increases considerably. Therefore, it is necessary to implement channel models that allow the attenuation due to these factors to be characterized. A Ka-band channel model, which is able to take account of weather impairments, is proposed for the analysis of the operation of FWA (fixed wireless access) systems based on HAPS (high attitude platform stations). The weather effects are taken into consideration using a time series generator obtained by simulation. The BER performance of the system under the proposed channel model is obtained and compared to that of other systems.
