Effects of P/sub 2/O/sub 5/ addition on manganese zinc ferrites

The effects of P/sub 2/O/sub 5/ addition on magnetic properties of high-permeability MnZn ferrites were investigated. P/sub 2/O/sub 5/ addition has the effect of promoting crystalline grain growth. With 0.06wt% P/sub 2/O/sub 5/ added, the initial permeability reached its peak and core loss declined to the least. A small quantity of P/sub 2/O/sub 5/ also decreased the porosity in MnZn ferrites. With 0.04wt% P/sub 2/O/sub 5/ added, porosity and /spl eta//sub B/ declined to the least. More P/sub 2/O/sub 5/ added would lead to increase of porosity which would stunt the grain growth speed and would increase the /spl eta//sub B/.
