Ring resonator based optical mirrors

The characteristics of ring resonator based optical mirrors are numerically evaluated. The mirrors are optimized to provide high reflection in the passband. A design procedure is outlined that relates the required coupling to the bandwidth and reflection coefficient. The effect of waveguide loss on the transmission and reflection performance is computed. Emphasis is placed on group delay and dispersion in lossy devices.
