Photon initiated - Marxed modulators

Sci-Eng Solutions will report on the development of compact, robust, and efficient megavolt class photon initiated (light activated) - Marxed (line-type) modulators (PIMM's) designed to directly drive klystrons that are intended to satisfy the demanding requirements for the 'next generation linear collider' at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. These modulators are equally applicable for the high power microwave applications pertinent to the directed energy arena. Photon-initiated switches provide the versatility of designing Marxed modulators that can efficiently drive a variety of sources while eliminating the requirement for inefficient 'onboard' electrical trigger circuits intrinsic to other semiconductor switches. The PIMM's topology promises to provide perhaps the most compact and cost effective modulator design possible, while exhibiting superb versatility and reliability
