IST-OBANET: optical smart antennas for mm-wave broadband wireless access networks

Several optical beamformer architectures are analyzed in terms of their performance for base station in broadband wireless access networks in millimeter-wave frequency bands. Both upstream and downstream configuration are described and their ability to offer multibeam capability has been considered. The measurements obtained confirm their performance. The work presented here has been carried out in the frame of the IST 2000-25390 OBANET project.
