Novel waveguide and materials structure for wideband electroabsorption modulator

Traveling-wave electroabsorption modulator using intra-step-barrier quantum well and peripheral coupled waveguide are designed and tested for analog fiber link applications. The resulting device has demonstrated high optical power handling and low V/sub /spl pi// properties.
