Peer learning with Lego Mindstorms

Reciprocal peer learning involves students learning from, and with, each other. This paper details a peer learning centred course where small teams of students design and develop a multifunctional robot using Lego Mindstorms/spl trade/. In particular, it describes how students were introduced to the concept of peer learning and outlines how the learning environment was managed and sustained. Particular emphasis is placed on acknowledging and rewarding peer collaboration as part of the assessment procedures, thus encouraging active student engagement with the peer learning process.
