Computer based performance analysis of faulted multiconductor multicircuit fault-tolerant network with distributed parameters

The author presents a computer-based approach to performance analysis of an M-terminal multiconductor, multicircuit, fault-tolerant network of transmission lines with distributed parameters and operating under multiple faults. For fault tolerance, the network includes a pool of spare conductors. The terminal pairs involved in a fault are modeled as an equivalent generalized two-port network with generalized ABCD parameters. The method determines the equivalent Thevenin's impedance and open circuit voltage at the point of a fault. The proposed method has been used to analyze the effect of isolated but faulted conductors on the system, and analytical expressions for quantitative determination of sending end quantities have been derived. The method is equally applicable to bolted or unbolted faults.<
