Loop of the rings: amplification of the phases of counter-propagating waves by a ring resonator in a Sagnac loop

A novel phase amplification technique using a ring resonator in a Sagnac interferometer is proposed. It can be used to increase birefringence and PMD measurements sensitivity and sensitivity of fiberoptic gyroscopes. Preliminary experiments are reported.
