Passively mode-locked 50-GHz Er:Yb:glass laser

We demonstrate a compact, stable, fundamental-mode-locked Er:Yb:glass laser with 50 GHz repetition rate. It can serve as pulse generator in future high-speed RZ transmission systems or as a multi-wavelength source locked to the ITU grid.
