Optoelectronic integration using statistical assembly and magnetic retention of heterostructure pills

Magnetically assisted statistical assembly (MASA), whereby heterostructure device pills are statistically assembled in dielectric recesses on a Si integrated circuit and retained by short-range magnetic forces, is described and demonstrated for the first time.
