Positron emission tomography in molecular imaging

The development of high-resolution positron emission tomography (PET) devices is an area of increasing interest to engineers and physicists. Because this technology is eminently translatable to the clinic, PET is becoming established as an invaluable - if not the premier - molecular imaging technique. This paper gives an overview of the clinical applications of PET and dual modality CT-PET systems as well as the challenges in small-animal PET imaging.
