A new stable hybrid three-dimensional finite difference time domain (FDTD) algorithm for analyzing complex structures

In this paper, we propose it new hybrid generalized FDTD 3D algorithm, implemented by the cell method, for the analysis of fine details. It can analyze complex objects with fine features without placing a heavy constraint on the maximum time step imposed by the stability criterion. Additionally, the matrix notation of the cell method has enabled us to carry out a stability analysis of the hybrid algorithm, and to derive two conditions that guarantee stable numerical solutions. Finally, we have demonstrated, via extensive testing, that there were no instabilities when applying the proposed algorithm to test cases.
