Telemedicine for mountain climbers with high quality video and stethoscope sound transmission

An experimental telemedicine network is set up to provide telemedicine support to temporary mountain clinic on Japan Alps. The network is composed of long-range wireless LAN's and three CATV networks. It can simultaneously transmit MPEG-2 based video at 2 Mbps and digital stethoscope sound at 192 kbps, which provide enough resolution for doctors to diagnosis.
