Adaptive control of a flexible structure with noncollocated sensors and actuators

The decentralized adaptive controller design process is discussed, and results of the actual implementations on a flexible structure for active vibration damping are presented. The JPL/AFAL flexible spacecraft control dynamics simulator is a labscale model for a large antenna-like flexible structure. It shows many of the characteristics of large space-based structures and provides challenging problems to the control designer. The experimental facility and system model, the adaptive controller design strategy and the implementation issues, including MATRIX/sub x/ simulation studies, are presented.<
