A quantum-based microwave power measurement performed with a miniature atomic fountain

A microwave power standard directly traceable to a fundamental atomic process could potentially reduce the uncertainties associated with microwave power measurement. We report on a proof-of-principle experiment to measure microwave power by observing Rabi oscillations in the clock transition of /sup 133/Cs atoms. The measurements were performed using a miniature atomic fountain.
