Engineering workstations-what the vendors wrought

Increasingly powerful workstations recently unveiled by manufacturers are surveyed. The power did not just go into desktop or deskside units, but into portables as well. Central processing units (CPUs) operating at 33 MHz were commonplace, and 40 and 50 MHz chips were not unusual. In most cases, the manufacturers introduced multiple units to their families of machines.<
