Performance quantification of protection schemes for a Pan-European optical network

In this paper, we compare the performance of various protections schemes for the case of a high-capacity Pan-European optical network. The results are obtained using projected traffic demands (based on measured traffic data and traffic modeling) that were calculated in the framework of the COST 266 European project.
