Optical add/drop filter by contra-directional coupling between photonic crystal waveguides

The design, fabrication, and characterization of an optical filter based on a contra-directional photonic crystal waveguide coupler are presented. The efficient wavelength-selective operation is demonstrated, which is in good agreement with the theoretical results.
