Source field scattering on a cone with longitudinal slots

Conic structures are omnidirectional and super-wide band in radiation pattern and matching. They are widely applied in radar, communications and telemetry. The structure under consideration is a model of a conical antenna with a controlled radiation pattern and polarization. Theoretical study problems of electromagnetic wave diffraction on bodies is reduced to solving boundary problems of mathematical physics. An electric radial dipole field diffraction problem on a perfectly conducting semi-infinite circular cone with periodic longitudinal slots was considered previously (Doroshenko, V.A. and Kravchenko, V.F., J. of Commun. Tech. and Electron., vol.45, no.7, p.714, 2000). Solving that electrodynamics boundary problem was equivalent to solving the first boundary problem of mathematical physics for Helmholtz's equations with cone geometry. The analytical solutions for some private cases of the cone were presented. The aim of this paper is to obtain a numerical solution for the radial dipole field diffraction problem and to analyze the slot effect on scattering characteristics. The excitation problem for a slotted cone with longitudinal slots is considered. Scattered field patterns are presented to investigate the slot effect. The method can be used for solving electrodynamics problems for a more complicated geometry of a scattering surface.
