A comparative study of breakdown under pulse conditions in poorly flammable synthetic oils for power transformers

A comparative study in described involving a novel type of oil, a more established synthetic oil, and an actually approved naphthenic transformer oil. A brief description is given of the experimental equipment and procedures used in this study. The experimental results are reported, and their significance is discussed. Test results show that HT 40, a perfluoropolyether, is a promising candidate to replace PCB as a nonflammable oil in power transformers.<
