Soft-switching boost power factor correction converter with negative slope ramp carrier control

In this paper, the soft-switching boost power factor correction converter with the negative slope ramp carrier control is presented. The soft-switch is achieved by using a simple commutation circuit with no auxiliary active switches. To control the operation of the one active boost switch in CCM (continuous conduction mode), the simple negative slope ramp carrier control with instantaneous inductor current sensing is obtained. The duty ratios are obtained by comparisons of a sensed signal from inductor current and a negative ramp carrier waveform in each switching period. To verify the proposed converter, circuit experimentation for the 150 W soft switching boost power factor correction converter with the negative slope ramp carrier control approach at switching frequency 40 kHz is conducted.
