Different interpretations of ambiguously occluded figures are reflected in eye movements

The relation between visual completion of ambiguously occluded figures and eye movements was investigated. Eye movements were recorded while participants were engaged in a guided search task that featured simple figures, occluded figures and mosaic patterns. Different interpretations of the same occluded figure yielded distinct gaze durations. These differences are related to the preferred interpretation of each occluded figure.
