Magnetic characteristics of the D0 detector

In the D0 detector, muon momentum is measured by deflection through toroidal iron magnets. The general features of these magnets are discussed. Design calculations performed with the two-dimensional codes POISSON and ANSYS are described. Full three-dimensional calculations performed with the TOSCA are also presented. Magnetic field and flux measurements are described and compared with the calculations.<
