A neuro-fuzzy lightpath design for optical cross-connect switch configuration

The optical cross-connect system (OXC) has been considered as highly responsible network element in the optical transport network to achieve the optimality in view of network resource usage, with consideration of supporting the end-to-end connection. In this paper, we define a switch configuration control problem for the OXC system which has a /spl lambda/-plane switching architecture implemented with 2D MEMS optical switches and tunable wavelength converters. We formulate a transformation matrix between input and output optical channels for configuring switches. We suggest that the network design problem for an optical transport network is to find a network switching configuration matrix and propose a neuro-fuzzy method to identify the translation from input-output and network connectivity configuration to network switching configuration.
