Capture models for mobile packet radio networks

A number of different capture and spatial distribution models are applied to the problem of a number of mobile users accessing a central base station over a common channel. Methods for evaluating the probability q/sub i/ of capture when there are i contending transmitters are examined. The sensitivity of q/sub i/ to the capture and spatial distribution models is discussed. It was found that there is little difference between the q/sub i/ values for a uniform and a bell-shaped spatial density model, with the latter yielding slightly higher values. The asymptotic values of q/sub i/ for large i are the same for both spatial density models.<
