Luminescence amplification

AMPLIFIERS with large input-output isolation can be made using injection luminescent diode light sources and phototransistors1. This paper will consider some specific differential amplifiers that achieve linear amplification and high dc common-mode rejection. Signal power gain is shown to occur directly in the photon emission process. Figure 1 shows the basic amplifier circuit. The injection luminescent diodes (ILD's) are forward biased to identical currents by photovoltaic energy converters (solar cells).
