Implementation of Smart Town based on Internet of Things using Cisco Packet Tracer

Transportation networks and waste management systems face major challenges as a result of rapid urbanization. The traditional methods rely on manual procedures and set schedules, which frequently result in inefficiency, service delays, and increased operating expenses. In order to overcome these constraints, this present research suggests a model that incorporates Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. The model integrates emergency alert systems, smart bus shelters, and smart waste management into a centralized network infrastructure using Cisco Packet Tracer 8.2. While GPS-enabled buses display real-time arrival information at shelters, smart bins with sensors send fill-level data for the best collection routes. In order to improve employee safety, emergency alert buttons allow for instant incident reporting. With routers, switches, and a central server supporting both static and dynamic IP addressing, the system architecture uses a star topology. According to simulation results, all subsystems have efficient real-time monitoring, dependable communication with $\mathbf{0} \boldsymbol{\%}$ packet loss, and an average response time of 43 ms. These results validate the viability of low-cost, IoT-enabled smart town solutions for enhancing efficiency, sustainability, and urban safety.
