Smart Retractable Speed Breaker System with GPS

In the past few years, the more and more road accidents due to the improper speed breakers has showed that better traffic system are needed. This paper designs the implementation of a Smart Retractable Speed Breaker System integrated with a GPS module, focusing to improve road safety and emergency vehicle travel. The work address the shortcomings of the traditional speed breaker system creating delays for emergency vehicles like ambulances by giving dual mode autonomous operation of the static speed breaker. To fix this problem in emergency vehicles our work proposes a solution that uses IR sensors which finds vehicles that are coming nearby and a GPS module which detect high priority regions like school areas, hospitals, and high risk zones. Based on the vehicle’s location and type, the system automatically controls the position of the speed breaker using a servo motor, thus reducing the unwanted delays on roads while slowing down vehicles in the important areas. This helps not only for the people to travel safe but also helps for emergency vehicles to move quicker. The system doesn’t cost much and it is easy to set up anywhere.
