AI-powered Voice Assistant to Combat Elderly Loneliness & Prevent Kodokushi

The rising health concern among the elderly is loneliness, especially when there are no social bonds which can ultimately lead to poor health and the risk of dying alone. Those responsible for handling unattended deaths also face severe challenges, including Dealing with highly decomposed bodies, Exposure to biohazards and mental health struggles. The goal of the paper is to research on the development of an artificial intelligence powered voice assistant that is aimed to ease the old people's loneliness and proactively prevent them from dying alone (Kodokushi (). Using sentimental NLP combined with emotional machine learning, the assistant is designed to converse with the user as a companion and enable looking after the health of the users. Also, using health and behavioral analytics, the system can identify distress, inactivity, or even cognitive decline, and immediately inform caregivers or emergency services if need. This method attempts to increase social interactions and make sure constant interaction happens so that the lifestyle of elderly is improved along with the societal call for addressing isolation in elderly.
