A Dual Band Metamaterial-Inspired Antenna with Improved ZOR Characteristics for WLAN Applications

A CPW fed dual-band Zeroth Order Resonance (ZOR) antenna is presented in this paper. The antenna has impedance bandwidths of $2.17-2.59 \text{GHz}$ and $5.01-5.31 \text{GHz}$, and peak realized gains of 2.07 dBi and 2.69 dBi in the lower and higher band, respectively. The simulated cross polarization level is more than 62 dB lower than the co-polarization level in the direction of maximum radiation at ZOR mode. The proposed antenna is suitable for $2.4 / 5.2 \text{GHz}$ WLAN/ Wi-Fi applications.
