Highly Efficient Near-Field Wireless Power Transfer System Realization by Making Use of DGS

This paper presents the realization process of a near-field wireless power transfer (WPT) system for the Internet of Things applications. Initially, the process started with a 30-by-30 sq. mm resonator development employing the defected ground structure and systematic design techniques. Subsequently, the design parameters optimization was conducted to reach the resonant frequency of 0.9 GHz. Eventually, the coupled resonators with a transfer range of 25 mm established the WPT system that attained the power transfer efficiency (PTE) of 81.4%. In addition, the performed misalignment study presented the system's robustness by preserving around 80% PTE within the $\pm 5 \text{mm}$ shift.
