Building Trust in the Metaverse: A Blockchain Approach for Social Networks

Trust is a critical foundation for social interactions, particularly in the rapidly evolving landscape of the metaverse. This paper presents a blockchain-based framework to enhance trust and accountability in social networks within the metaverse. By leveraging the decentralized and tamper-proof nature of blockchain technology, we propose a system that ensures transparency, data integrity, and fair governance. Our approach integrates smart contracts to automate trust-related processes, such as identity verification, content moderation, and user reputation management, while preserving user privacy. Additionally, we address scalability and interoperability challenges to accommodate the dynamic and interconnected nature of the metaverse. Through simulation and analysis, we demonstrate that our blockchain-based model fosters trust, reduces misinformation, and strengthens community engagement in social networks. This work contributes to building a secure and reliable foundation for social interactions in the metaverse, paving the way for its sustainable growth.
