Modeling and Calculation of the Effect of the Surface Effect in Solid Conductor of Round Section in the Presence of Higher Harmonics

The article shows the results of modeling and calculating the coefficient of influence of the surface effect in the presence of higher harmonic components. The existing mathematical models of accounting for the «skin effect» in the conductors of the round section are analyzed. The calculated formulas were displayed for calculating the coefficient, reflecting the change in the distribution of current density in the transverse section of the wire with an increase in the wave frequency, according to the method of mind-punting. Based on the results of the calculation, graphic dependencies were built and their comparison was carried out with the curves given in the literature. In the range from 0 to 1000 Hz, with an equal step of 50 Hz, the calculations of the coefficient of the «skin effect» for continuous conductors of the round section of copper and aluminum at a temperature of 20 degrees according to the formulas following the theory of the electromagnetic field were calculated. Similar calculations are made for the new model of accounting for the «skin effect». The correctness of the proposed model in the case of an aluminum conductor is confirmed. An attempt was made to use FEMM 4.2 to the study of the dependence of the surface effect of the number of higher harmonics. Conclusions about the accuracy of the considered techniques reflecting the process of displacing the density of current to the surface of the conductor with an increase in its wave frequency.
