Development of the Environment Adaptive Controller for the Capsule Train Ride Comfort Improvement

High speed capsule train magnetically levitating inside a low pressurized tube requires actuators between the carbody and the bogie to reduce vibration and secure ride comfort. However, existing actuators that operate with a design-fixed controller assuming only general driving conditions cannot actively respond to the changing driving environment such as changes in passenger number, routes, and vehicle system characteristics, which results in performance deterioration. In this study, we proposed an actuator controller that adapts to the changing driving environment by using the real-time measured vibration data from the running vehicle. Based on the simulation, environment adaptive controller was designed and performance was examined. Then, by using the test bed including real size actuator, the performance of the proposed controller was experimentally verified.
