Application of Command and Control Data in Augmented Reality

This paper presents a lightweight, browser based Augmented Reality (AR) system designed to enhance situational awareness across a broad spectrum of tactical operations, including dismounted personnel, military vehicles, and other combat platforms. In contrast to conventional AR solutions that depend on proprietary hardware or platform specific applications, the proposed system leverages standard web technologies and native mobile sensors to render tactical Keyhole Markup Zip (KMZ) data directly into the user’s field of view. The user interface combines a dual - screen layout featuring a live camera feed with real - time 3D overlays and a 2D geospatial map, providing improved spatial orientation, threat identification, and navigation support. The system demonstrates intuitive usability and operational flexibility in diverse environments, including GPS - degraded and infrastructure - denied scenarios. Aligned with NATO Command and Control (C2) interoperability frameworks, this solution offers a scalable, platform - independent approach for rapid $A R$ deployment in contested and dynamic operational theaters.
