Weather-related decisions: the effect of heatwaves and climate change in the case of Hungary

Due to global climate change, heatwaves and extreme warm periods are becoming more frequent and intense. Climate change affects participants of the economic sectors, civil, and critical infrastructure. In this article, data were analyzed demonstrating climate change in Hungary between 1980 and 2022 (average mean temperature, °C; precipitation, mm; number of days with frost; number of hot days; number of heatwave days; number of days without rainfall). This will present a comprehensive analysis of climate change in Hungary and the conclusions that can be drawn will provide a general overview of the recommended actions and strategies to respond to the impacts of climate change and to manage its effects.
