Multiplying Irradiation Intensity by the Number of Irradiations Revealed Optimal Exposure Conditions of Low-Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound for Activating Endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthase

Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound therapy promotes angiogenesis in the myocardium, providing a minimally invasive treatment for ischemic heart disease. Previous studies have identified optimal treatment conditions within the range of settings available on existing sector probes of general-purpose ultrasound devices. In this study, we validated four parameters related to ultrasound exposure and proposed a new metric that uniformly indicates the optimal conditions for promoting the expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase.
