Accelerated estimation of the shear wave speed and the shear viscosity with an approximate viscoelastic time-domain model

An approximate viscoelastic time-domain model for estimating the shear wave speed and the shear viscosity is introduced. The viscoelastic time-domain model is applied to four transient three-dimensional (3D) simulations of shear wave motion that account for a realistic 3D acoustic radiation force. The approximate viscoelastic time-domain model obtains more accurate estimates of the shear wave speed than cross-correlations at most locations for each input parameter combination. The approximate viscoelastic time-domain model also provides rough estimates of the shear viscosity.
