ARM & Kinect based Home Automation & Assistance System – ArmKHAAS

This paper presents the design and implementation of an ARM and Kinect-Based Home Automation and Assistance System – ArmKHAAS aimed at enhancing the safety, independence, and quality of life for the elderly and individuals with special needs. Integrating the efficient processing of ARM microcontrollers with the motion-sensing and body-tracking capabilities of the Microsoft Kinect sensor, the system enables intuitive gesture-based control of home appliances and real-time monitoring of the user's well-being. Key features include reliable fall detection, unknown person detection through skeletal and visual analysis, and seamless gesture-based automation, for controlling lights, fans, and other devices. Driven by a deep humanitarian concern, this work addresses the growing need for accessible, inclusive, and intelligent home environments. The modular architecture ensures scalability and adaptability for future enhancements, including the integration of advanced AI and additional sensors. This project not only delivers an advanced technological solution but also reflects a compassionate commitment to empowering vulnerable populations. By leveraging innovative engineering, ArmKHAAS fosters independence, safety, and dignity for elderly and special needs individuals, bridging technology with humanitarian care.
