A GEO-Management Based Degraded Satellite Avoidance Routing Algorithm for GEO-LEO Satellite Network

Routing for two-layer satellite network of geostationary (GEO) and low earth orbit (LEO) satellites has been a hot issue for long. Tasks of GEO and LEO satellites in routing decide algorithm performance. In the majority of previous researches, GEO satellites either transmit detoured service packets from LEO satellites or calculate routing tables for LEO satellites. In the paper, GEO satellites gather information such as inter-satellite link status, queuing length from LEO satellites, share information within 3 GEO satellites, and transmit overall information in pilot packets to every LEO satellite. Then, every LEO satellite calculates routes with fewest hops, at the same time, detouring degraded LEO satellites.
